Electrical Contractor
Application for Electrical Contractor Registration
Registrations are valid from April 30– March 31.
Renewal letters and applications are emailed the beginning of April, annually.
Electrical Contractor Registration Requirements
- A completed Electrical Contractor Registration form.
- $27.50 fee (annual)
- Applicants providing a license/registration from another Illinois municipality must also provide an affidavit verifying a minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical contractor. Alternatively, applicants may provide a current copy of masters licensing, accompanied by proof of a passing grade..
- A $10,000.00 continuous license/permit bond on the city’s form. Bonds that are not continuous will not be accepted.
- Current Certificate of Liability Insurance to The City of Rock Island in the amount of $100,000.00 property damage & $300,000.00 personal injury per occurrence
- Proof of workers compensation insurance or proof that the contractor is an approved self-insurer of workers compensation. Can be provided as a certificate of insurance from the insurance provider, or certificate of insurance issued by the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission.
- Contractors that have no employees are not required to provide proof of workers compensation. A written statement confirming they have no employees will be required.

Inspections
Persons doing permitted work are expected to know when inspections are required. Necessary inspections may vary greatly based on the scope or work being done. Please keep communications open with the appropriate Inspector.

Remember, if the items needing inspection are covered without inspection, the permit holder will be required to expose these items through any means necessary, at the expense of the applicant.
