Fire Prevention Week takes place each year during the second week in October. During this week, the Rock Island Fire Department provides educational programs for all ages. Firefighters will visit local elementary schools to give demonstrations, check students’ “Stop, Drop and Roll” skills, and teach people what to do when a smoke detector is activated.
Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Learn more about this nation-wide event.
