Cop on a Rooftop has been a long-standing partnership between local law enforcement agencies, Dunkin’ Donuts, and the Special Olympics. Police officers in Rock Island and across the nation participate in this annual event which raises money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run and the Special Olympics. Guests to Dunkin’ Donuts were given the opportunity to support this wonderful cause and get a free donut with every donation.

No-Shave November is an annual event where Rock Island Police Department participants forgo shaving to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Each November, a group of dedicated officers join the cause, by putting down their razors to spark conversations and generate support. By embracing their growing facial hair, these officers aim to honor those battling cancer and encourage their community to contribute to this vital cause. Their participation not only helps raise funds but also fosters a sense of solidarity and compassion within the community.

To extend our fundraising initiatives, we transition from No Shave November to No Shave December, raising funds and awareness for local charities and organizations.

Almost everyone has been touched by cancer, whether through a personal experience or knowing someone who has been diagnosed.  Each October, members of the Rock Island Police Department wear pink breast cancer awareness badges to show their support, increase awareness and raise funds for those affected by cancer.

The Polar Plunge is one of the many ways the Rock Island Police Department supports and raises money for the Special Olympics.  Along with other area police agencies and non-law enforcement groups, participants jump into icy waters in the middle of winter! The money raised provides thousands of Special Olympics athletes in Illinois access to year-round sports activities and competitions.
