The Field Operations Division is the uniformed patrol division of the Rock Island Police Department and comprises the majority of department's personnel. The officers of the patrol division respond to calls for service and conduct pro-active patrols of their assigned beats to maximize their deterrent influence and to increase their chances of detecting crimes in progress.
Specialized units within the field operations division include: Bicycle Patrol, Canine Officers, Elderly Service Officer, Emergency Response Team, and the Field Training Officers.
Shift Hours
The Field Operations Division is comprised of three separate shifts who each provide around-the-clock service and protection for the citizens of Rock Island:
First Watch 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
Second Watch 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Third Watch 10:30 pm to 6:30 am
Each team is overseen by a Lieutenant and two Sergeants who supervise and coordinate the work activities of the police officers during their assigned watch.
