Biography
An Eldridge native, Ms. Campbell graduated from Dominican University in 1997 with a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree. Previously, Ms. Campbell worked as director of the Glenwood Public Library in Glenwood, IA. Within two months of her Jan. 2011 start date, she embarked upon strategic planning and fundraising for a major renovation. The $175,000 renovation project, completed in May 2012 from donated funds, created a new youth service area for children and teens on the lower level of the 1907 Carnegie library. Ms. Campbell also wrote grants to create a living literacy technology lab, which provided library patrons with a hands-on “maker-space” center for video and audio production. The Glenwood lab is one of only two in Iowa, and includes photography hardware and software, iPad tablets, laptops, and desktop computers, as well as opportunities for associated programming.
Before relocating to southwestern Iowa for the director position, Ms. Campbell served as public relations and programming coordinator of the Davenport Public Library from 2005 to 2011 and as the Davenport Library’s Reference and Book Discussion Coordinator from 1997 to 2005.
“I’m excited to return home to the Quad Cities,” says Ms. Campbell. “Rock Island Public Library is already a great library. My goals are to provide leadership that will inspire staff to grow our services, and to listen to our public to provide the services they need.”
