Rock Island/Milan public school students are already back to school, with private schools following later. To provide safe activiites after school, the Rock Island Public Library is starting brand new weekly after-school programming at two branches.
Back to School? Back to Your Rock Island Library! New After-School Programming Starts August 6
To provide safe activities after school, the Rock Island Public Library has started brand new weekly after-school programming for upper elementary ages at its Watts-Midtown and Southwest Branches.
Elementary after-school activities will be offered from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm starting Tuesday, August 6 at the Rock Island Watts-Midtown Branch, 2715 30th Street, and again on Thursday, August 8, at the Rock Island Public Library Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road.
Each week features a new activity, including crafts, upcycling projects, a monthly book club, and more. Most activities are ideally suited for an upper elementary level student, specifically, Grades 4 to 6. All elementary students are welcome.
Planned activities for August are as follows:
· August 6/8: Sticker making craft
· August 13/15: Book altering upcycle craft
· August 20.22: Squishy Circuits
· August 27/29: After-School Book Club: Dragonet Prophecy (Wings of Fire series) Graphic Novel #1 by Tui T. Sutherland
