[ARCHIVED] Please take the Library's Community Survey!

Community Survey Post with QR code link to the survey

The Rock Island Public Library is creating a new strategic plan for 2025 to 2028, and wants to know your thoughts about library services, needs, and community priorities. Their community survey is open until April 1.

An online community survey from the Rock Island Public Library is open until April 1, 2024, and is available to anyone, including non-users of the library. It is available directly at the link in this story, and also via the library website. A paper copy is available at Library locations.

The library’s strategic plan helps it determine how to best focus its efforts, and address the needs of individual patrons and of the overall community. “Whether you use the library a little, a lot, or not at all, your answers will help us better understand your needs, and those of the larger community. It takes just a few minutes to make a lasting impact,” said Lisa Lockheart, Rock Island Public Library publicity and outreach liaison.

Survey participants do not have to live in Rock Island or the Milan-Blackhawk-Area Public Library District. Rock Island Library events are open to all, and the library regularly serves cardholders from other libraries in Davenport and the Illinois Quad Cities. Previous surveys helped the library identify needs for fine-free borrowing, homebound delivery, after-hours book pickup, and study rooms, all of which were introduced during the current strategic plan.

Another way to add your voice to planning is to attend any of three Community Conversation events hosted by both the Rock Island Public Library and the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department. Discussion times are:

  • Tuesday, March 26, 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Rock Island Watts-Midtown Branch, 2715 30th Street,
  • Wednesday, March 27, 2 pm to 3pm, Rock Island Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road, and
  • Saturday, March 30, 10:30 am to Noon, Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street

"Partnering with the Rock Island Parks & Recreation Department for the Community Conversations makes perfect sense. Both of our organizations enhance the livability factor of our community, so hearing how best to focus our efforts in the coming years will aid in planning and future partnerships," said Angela Campbell, director of the Rock Island Public Library.

All discussions are open to anyone. Coffee and refreshments will be available.
