The City of Rock Island is seeking applicants for the following:
Arts & Beautification Commission. The newly formed commission oversees the City's Annual Arts Plan, votes on Yard of the Month awards, and advises on public space projects and other placemaking activities. Applicants should have a background in either the visual arts, performing arts, landscape architecture, horticulture, ecology, or environmental studies. Planning & Zoning Commission. The commission advises on land use regulation and urban planning matters, assists in developing the City's Comprehensive Plan and other community plans, and considers individual cases regarding the City's zoning, sign, and subdivision ordinances. Applicants should have knowledge of land use regulations, zoning law, real estate, land development, or any other expertise associated with urban planning.
