The Rock Island Public Library is again partnering with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Money Smart Week to help promote free virtual programs aimed at helping local families become more money smart about budgeting, debt, and more. Money Smart Week is Saturday, April 15 through Friday, April 21, 2023.
The free, virtual programs aim to help people manage their personal finances with a focus on tools for budgeting, using financial institutions (presented in Spanish), debt relief, and employer retirement plans. The 2023 line-up includes:
- Monday, April 17, at 1:00 pm, Family Budgeting. Presented by Katie Cullum of the University of Arkansas System, Division of Agriculture
- Tuesday, April 18, at 1:00 pm, Spanish language session: Instituciones Financieras (Financial Institutions,) presented by Vanessa Arita Reyes of the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions
- Wednesday, April 19, at 1:00 pm, Debt Relief, Presented by Bruce McClary of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling
- Thursday, April 20, 1:00 pm, Employer Retirement Plans, Presented by Kimberly Johnson of the U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration
All sessions are online only. View more details at the Money Smart Week website. Events are free and open to the public, but registration is advised.
