Rock Island Public Library wraps up a sports-themed Library Card Sign Up Month with family trivia and bingo events that encourage families to GAME ON at their library.

Rock Island Public Library wraps up a sports-themed Library Card Sign Up Month with two programs in late September that encourage families to GAME ON at their library.

On Tuesday, September 27, the library will offer a Star Wars Trivia game from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Rock Island Public Library Southwest Branch, 9010 Ridgewood Road. The event is for all ages, and will be a fast-paced game of trivia on all things Star Wars. Participants can play as a family team or on their own. No registration is required for this free event.

Registration is still open for a Family Bingo game on Thursday, September 29 at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street. The free event takes place from 4:30 to 5:30 pm in the library’s community room. Participants will play as many games as possible in one hour for candy prizes. The event is free and open to all ages. Registration is required for everyone attending.

To sign up for the family bingo, call 309-732-7360 or visit the event on the library calendar.

The library will also host a library card drive at the Rock Island High School home football game on Sept. 30. To sign up for your card, bring a photo ID and look for the Rock Island Library2Go bookmobile. Every September, the Rock Island Public Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) in reminding learners of all ages that signing up for a library card is the first step on a path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the back-to-school season.

To sign up for a library card online, visit "Get a Card" at the library website.
