Mark your calendars and join Rock Island Parks & Recreation for a free Virtual Holiday Hoedown on Wednesday, December 16th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm featuring Kevin Horton. Guitarist and singer, Kevin Horton, started playing at the age of seven with his dad. The bulk of his time was playing with Southern Thunder and the Wilson Brothers Band in the Quad Cities. He has also opened for Johnny Cash, Randy Travis, Roger Miller, Bobby Bare & Mickey Gilley to name a few. This Virtual Concert will be streamed live on the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RockIslandParksandRec. The concert is free, however virtual donations will be accepted to benefit the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Foundation’s youth financial assistance program, to help youth participate in sports, summer camps, and programming through the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department.

As you are pondering what to buy your loved ones, don’t forget that we have holiday gift cards available! We have many special interest, sports, and fitness classes. Sometimes the gift of an experience can last much longer than a present opened and forgotten. Maybe they would like to play some rounds at Highland or Saukie Golf Course, splash down a slide at Whitewater Junction next summer, or get in a workout at the Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center! Golf balls will also be for sale in our Park Office. Visit Rock Island Parks and Recreation at the Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center: 4303 24th Street, Rock Island. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Call (309) 732-7275 for more information.
