Longview Park Controlled Burn
The Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department will be working with the Fire Department to manage its naturalized areas in Longview Park with a controlled burn. Staff will be selecting a day between March 16th to March 27th dependent on the weather to minimize impact of smoke on the public. This burn is part of a management plan for the park’s naturalized areas to eliminate weed species not wanted and encourage new growth of desired native species. If you have any questions please contact Rock Island Parks and Recreation Chief Horticulturist, Marc DeMarlie at (309) 732-7261.
