Homemade, natural cleaners have gained increasing popularity with people concerned about cost and the environment. The Rock Island Public Library will help people learn more about this topic with three hands-on classes for adults in March, April, and May.
The three DIY Cleaning Supplies classes are offered from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street, on the following dates:
- March 4: DIY Laundry Solutions: Learn how to make your own detergent and dryer sheets. Only a few registration slots are open for this class.
- April 1: DIY Kitchen Solutions: Learn how to make an all-purpose cleaner and dishwasher pods.
- May 6: DIY Bathroom Solutions: Learn how to make toilet bowl fizzies and a shower cleaner.
Registered participants in the DIY Cleaning Solutions classes will hear about the benefits of homemade cleaners, learn simple recipes, and receive samples to take home and try. Enrollment is limited, with registration open via the library website and by phone at 309-732-7341.
As with any class with limited enrollment, the library asks that registered participants cancel if they cannot attend so that the class space may be offered to someone else.
The DIY Cleaning Solutions classes are free and open to adult learners.
