[ARCHIVED] Give Some Comfort this November at Rock Island Public Libraries

Community Comforts Drive_event cover

Your donations of resources will help the Rock Island Public Library bring a little extra comfort to homeless men, women, and families this holiday season.

The Rock Island Public Library is working with two Rock Island homeless organizations to bring a little extra comfort to homeless men, women, and families this holiday season.

Rock Island Library is hosting its first Community Comforts Donation Drive in conjunction with donation partners Christian Care Shelter and QC Haven of Hope. Throughout November, the library will offer donation boxes to collect supplies for these local organizations that assist people struggling with homelessness and housing insecurity.

Wish lists from these shelters include non-perishable food items, toiletries, paper products, cleaning supplies, new clothing items, and more. Donations may be dropped off at any Rock Island Public Library during business hours from November 1 through 30. Wish lists are available online via the library calendar and at all RIPL locations.

“The generosity of Rock Island residents never disappoints. As our community prepares for another long and cold winter, we know that many will remember those who may not have many comforts and give from the heart,” said Karrah Kuykendall, Rock Island Public Library Reference Librarian.

For more events at the library, visit the library website, call 309-732-READ, follow the Rock Island Library on social media, or sign up for free community calendar alerts from Burbio..
