Rock Island Library and WQPT Quad Cities PBS will partner for a special "Pinkalicious and Peteriffic" editions of the library's Toddler Tale storytimes in June.
The free Pinkalicious and Peteriffic-themed storytimes will be offered at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 13 at the Rock Island Southwest Library, 9010 Ridgewood Road; Friday, June 15 at the Rock Island Downtown Library Children's Room, 401 19th Street, and Tuesday, June 19 at the Rock Island 30/31 Library, 3059 30th Street.
Based on the books by Victoria Kann, the Pinkalicious and Peteriffic PBS Kids series encourages children to explore the arts and spark creativity. WQPT educator Michael Carton will read a story, help out with an art project, discuss the show with parents and caregivers, and show a short clip. Each child will go home with a bag of art supplies, so they can create their own adventures.
Additional Toddler Tale storytimes will be offered at the 30/31 Library on Tuesday, June 26, July 17, August 21 and 28; at the Southwest Library: Wednesdays, June 27, July 11, August 15 and 29, and at the Downtown Library on Fridays, July 13 and 20, August 17 and 24. All are offered at 10:30 am, and include stories, songs, and a craft activity for the learning needs of children ranging from infants to age five.
The free events are part of the Rock Island "Libraries Rock" summer programming for children, which includes summer reading challenges, learning fun, and free events for all ages at Rock Island Libraries from June 1 to July 21.
