Fire Hydrant Flushing Program - The City of Rock Island Public Works Department began the Fire Hydrant Flushing Program.  Crews will be flushing hydrants at various locations throughout the City for approximately a two week period.  The purpose of this program is to help maintain water quality standards and the fire protection system.  Due to flushing there is potential for sediment containing lead to be present in the water supply.  Generally, this will clear up and be mitigated by running some water from a cold water tap for a few minutes.  For additional information about the Fire Hydrant Flushing Program please visit the City’s website at www.rigov.org/water or contact the Public Works Department at (309) 732-2200.

Picnic Shelter Reservations – Rock Island Parks and Recreation is currently accepting picnic shelter reservations for the 2018 season.  Reservations can be made over the phone or in person at the park office at the Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center, 4303 24th Street.  Reserving a shelter is first come, first serve and payment is required at the time of reservation.  Call the Rock Island Park Office at (309) 732-PARK for more information.

Money Smart Week - Get money smart at your Downtown Rock Island Library by finding cash, learning about Social Security and securely shredding paper.  If you’re hearing a lot about money week, that’s no accident. Free financial education classes and seminars for consumers are offered nationwide during Money Smart Week, April 21-April 28, including three events at the Rock Island Public Library.
