Hear some beautiful music Friday afternoon at the Rock Island Downtown Library, when the STEM Woodwind Ensemble pops by for an impromptu performance.
A double quintet from STEM Woodwind Ensemble of Valparaiso University plans to pop by the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street, on Friday, March 16. They'll play from the mezzanine of the library from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, providing beautiful music for first-floor patrons to read, browse or study by.
STEM Quintet Musicians are Alison Norris, flute; Timothy Henderson, oboe; Monica Lueck, clairinet; Janelle Wiegal, horn, and Sarah Kuchel, bassoon. Additional tour musicians in the STEM wine ensemble are Sydney Wiemer, clarinet; Cami Heinisch, horn; Tanner Gesell, euphonium; Paul Flaten, trombone; and Eric Mueller, tuba.
The goal of the STEM Woodwind Ensemble is to promote the crossovers between music and the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields, as well as providing beautiful music. The group is touring the Quad Cities over spring break, and added the extra performance for the library.
The event is free and open to the public.
