The City of Rock Island Fire Department would like to remind everyone that Severe Weather Awareness Week for Illinois begins this Sunday, March 4, 2018.
Severe Weather Awareness week for Illinois begins Sunday, March 4, 2018. A few topics that will be covered by the National Weather Service include severe thunderstorms, flash floods, tornadoes, and lightning. There will also be a statewide tornado drill on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:00 am during the monthly siren test. This is a great time to discuss and practice a plan in homes, schools, businesses, etc. in the event of a tornado warning.
You can find more information at www.weather.gov/dvn/Awareness_Weeks under the Severe Weather Awareness Tab. The National Weather Service will be doing daily social media posts on their Facebook and Twitter pages as well.
