Art Lecture – On Wednesday, October 11, 2017 the Main Library will host artist Irma Rene Koen, who was described as an “interesting Rock Island girl” in a 1910 Rock Island Argus article. Art historian Cynthia Empen helps us rediscover the life and art of this talented artist, the subject of the Figge Art Museum exhibit. The lecture will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and is free to attend.
Arts Alley – Remodeled Arts Alley is complete with an unveiling scheduled for October 12, 2017 at 3:30 pm. Arts Alley is a unique, pedestrian area nestled between 1st and 2nd Avenues just off 17th and 18th Street in Rock Island. With new hanging art and decorative light fixtures it is a pleasant façade and nice addition to the downtown.
Halloween Mystery Scavenger Hunt – On Saturday, October 14, 2017 come to Hauberg Estate to solve a puzzling mystery, long hidden within the historic mansion. Search for clues and collect all the pieces to complete the puzzle. Bring friends and work together at your own pace to unravel the mystery. Classic horror movie themed costumes encouraged.
