On September 21, 2017 at 1817 hours the Rock Island Police Department received a 911 call for an unknown problem. The telecommunicators re-contacted the original caller who advised that it was a domestic disturbance call.

For Immediate Release – Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm/Peace Officer
On September 21, 2017 at 1817 hours the Rock Island Police Department received a 911 call for an unknown problem. The telecommunicators re-contacted the original caller who advised that it was a domestic disturbance call.
Officers were dispatched to 219 21st Street to investigate the domestic call. The first officer arrived on scene and immediately went to the apartment where he encountered Cartier J. Leflore. As the officer investigated the original complaint, it was determined that Leflore had committed Domestic Battery and at this time the officer attempted to place Leflore under arrest. Leflore then proceeded to resist and batter the officer, rendering the officer unconscious. Leflore disarmed the officer of his taser and fled the scene. He was located shortly thereafter by responding officers in the area of 23rd St / 3rd Av. where he was taken into custody after the arresting officers deployed their tasers to subdue Leflore.
Leflore was charged with the following:
Ct. 1 Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm/Peace Officer – Class 1 Felony
Ct. 2 Aggravated Battery – Class 2 Felony
Ct. 3 Disarming a Peace Officer – Class 1 Felony
Leflore is currently in custody at the Rock Island County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond 10% applies.
The Officer was transported to the hospital for facial and head injuries and kept overnight for observation. The Officer has since been released and will be remain off work until he recovers from his injuries.
