[ARCHIVED] Free, All Ages Concert Series in Schwiebert Park

The concert series will be held on the main stage at Schwiebert Riverfront Park...

     Rock Island Parks & Recreation is proud to announce the annual Thursday Night Groove Concert Series, presented by Rock Island Happy Joe’s and sponsored by WHBF, KGCW, and KLJB TV.

     The concert series will be held on the main stage at Schwiebert Riverfront Park (1st Avenue and 18th Street in Rock Island). Each concert is free and fun for all ages. Thursday Night Groove begins at 6:00 pm with the opening of food and beer sales. Featured will be pizza slices for sale by Rock Island Happy Joe’s and beer sales by Bent River Brewing Company, who will have their seasonal Sweet Potato Ale on tap in addition to their standard lineup of craft brews. Before the show, enjoy a free dance lesson at 6:30 pm with QCSoDa before the live concert performance from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Concert schedule is as follows:

August 24th – Funktastic 5

August 31st – The Stone Flowers

September 7th – Jason Carl & The Whole Damn Band

September 14th – Minus Six

September 21st – Wicked Liz & the Bellyswirls

September 28th – Frankie Fontagne and the Ramblers 

October 5th – Candymakers

October 12th – Rain Date 

     The seven bands will cover a real mix of music including rock, funk, soul, R&B, and blues. This year’s Groove series presents a wide variety of local talent and brings together the best of Rock Island with food, great music, and partnerships to create a memorable experience for attendees. “We are bringing in some fresh talent from the area to perform and we know that many will enjoy. Come and experience a beautiful evening on the Rock Island riverfront”, says Dan Gleason, Event Manager.   

     Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Outside alcohol is not permitted.
