The Rock Island Public Library's Downtown location will host the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center's Mobile Donor Bus on Wednesday, August 9.

Blood donations will be taken from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm in the bus, which will be parked at the library's 19th Street entrance. To schedule an appointment, call Katy Powers at 309-732-7345 or register online. The library's group sponsor code is 3013.

To be eligible, donors should be 16 years of age or older, not have donated elsewhere after June 14, 2017, have eaten beforehand, and bring a Photo ID. Donors below age 17 will need a parental permission slip. The Downtown Library is located at 401 19th Street.

The blood center's Save Our Summer campaign recognizes that the rate of summer blood donation drops in comparison with other times of the year. All donors who register between August 1 and September 10 will automatically be entered to win a vacation package valued at $2,500 to a location of their choice. Donors at the mobile blood drive will also receive a voucher to redeem a $10 gift card for a variety of restaurants and retail businesses.

For contest or blood donation details, please visit the blood center's website or call (800) 747-5401.
