[ARCHIVED] Rock Island 30/31 Branch Temporarily Closed for Repair

Beginning April 6, the Rock Island Public Library 30/31 Branch at 3059 30th Street will be temporarily closed for electrical service repairs.

The Rock Island Public Library 30/31 Branch at 3059 30th Street is temporarily closed for electrical service repairs.

After a recent power surge revealed a wiring issue, the  Library Board opted to close the branch temporarily to allow electricians to properly evaluate the severity of the issue, and fix what is necessary without interruption. Repairs could take a week, or possibly longer, depending on the severity of issues found. The Library and electricians are working hard to fix the issue as quickly as possible.

Held items will be available for pick-up at the Main Library. Previously scheduled therapy dog, toddler storytime, and STEM-azing egg drop challenge events have also been moved to the Main Library in the interim.

Library staff will check the 30/31 book return while the branch is closed. To reduce the amount of material in the drop box, patrons are urged to return library materials to either the Main Library, 401 19th Street, or Southwest Branch Library, 9010 Ridgewood Road, while the 30/31 Branch is temporarily closed. Library. Patrons are also asked to hold material donations until the branch reopens.

For further information, contact the library at 309-732-READ or visit the library's website for updates.
