The Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the opening of the new clubhouse at Saukie Golf Course, located at 3108 38th St., Rock Island, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Friday, June 27 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new facility, enjoy the golf course views and try out the brand-new golf simulator. The updated clubhouse will offer a more enjoyable experience for golfers.
Designed to honor the course’s nearly 100 year history while embracing modern improvements, the new building features indoor and outdoor seating areas, improved accessibility, and year-round recreational and instructional opportunities through the addition of a state-of-the-art golf simulator.
This project was made possible through a $901,800 Park and Recreational Facility Construction (PARC) grant, as part of the Rebuild Illinois Capital Improvement Program, administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The total cost of the project was just over $1 million.
Estes Construction served as the general contractor for the project, and J’s Pro Drafting developed the building plan.
“This new clubhouse is a great investment in the future of Saukie Golf Course,” said Todd Winter, assistant director of Rock Island Parks and Recreation. “We wanted to keep the charm and history of Saukie while adding the improvements that we hope golfers and visitors will enjoy for decades to come.”
The Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department invites the media and community members to join in celebrating this exciting milestone for Saukie Golf Course.
