The Rock Island Parks & Recreation Department invites the community to join the fun at Party in the Park on Wednesday, Oct 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Upper Longview Park, located at 18^th Avenue and 17^th Street.

This family-friendly event offers a night of free entertainment, including free hot dogs and Kona Ice (while supplies last), and activities such as a bounce houses, face painting, and a caricature artist.

The evening will culminate in a recreation of Rock Island’s historic Walking Lantern Parade. Everyone is welcome to participate. The parade lineup is at 6:30 pm. If you’d like to make your own lantern ahead of time, cardboard and instructions are available for pickup at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19^th St. The Library will also host a paper bag lantern-making activity at the event, while supplies last. Stop by their table to create your lantern and join in the parade!
