March in for a Tuneful Tuesday with the Black Hawk Pipes and Drums at the Rock Island Public Library on Tuesday, March 5. The free performance at the Downtown Library is open to all.

The Rock Island Public Library Tuneful Tuesday features a bagpipe and drum marching band on Tuesday, March 5, just in time to put the audience in the right mood for upcoming IIrish and Scottish celebrations.

Players from the Black Hawk Pipes and Drums of the Quad Cities will march into the Rock Island Downtown Library Community Room to perform a variety of traditional tunes. The free event is offered from noon to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 5 in perfect time for both St. Patrick’s Day and Tartan Day. (Celebrated annually on April 6, Tartan Day is a celebration of Scottish heritage and independence.)

The Black Hawk Pipes and Drums are the Quad Cities only marching bagpipe and drum band. They began in 2000 under the initial sponsorship of the Scottish American Society of the Quad Cities, and regularly perform in parades, concerts, and special events in the Iowa/Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding communities. They last performed at the Rock Island Public Library in March 2020.

Tuneful Tuesday performances are made possible by continuing sponsorship from the Tuesday series from Carol and James Horstmann. The event is free and open to all.
