[ARCHIVED] Enjoy Lunchtime Music Breaks with Rock Island Library "Tuneful Tuesdays"

The Rock Island Public Library’s popular Tuneful Tuesday music series returns at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5, with holiday tunes at the Rock Island Downtown Library.

The Rock Island Public Library’s Tuneful Tuesday music series returns at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5, with holiday tunes at the Rock Island Downtown Library. 

Tuneful Tuesdays is a five-month series of free lunchtime concerts offered from noon to 1:00pm on the first Tuesdays of December through April. All are offered in the Community Room of the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th Street. 

The 2023-2024 series kicks off at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5 with a free performance of holiday music by a trio from the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra. Featured performers include Dr. Robert Elfline on piano, Kim Busic on violin, and Matt Kowalczyk, on bassoon. 

Other upcoming performances in the series include: 

  • January 9, 2024: Tony Hoeppner and Friends band
  • February 6: Harpist Lydia Olson
  • March 5: The Black Hawk Pipes and Drums band of the Quad Cities 
  • April 2: Rock Island High School Choir 

All performances in the series are free and are open to all ages. Attendees are welcome to bring a sack lunch to enjoy while they listen. The series is supported by a generous donation from long-time library patrons Carol and James Horstmann.
