Biography

Chief Yerkey is a long standing veteran of the Rock Island Fire Department. He was first appointed in 1990 as a firefighter paramedic and was part of the first group of paramedics that started the Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic program here in the City of Rock Island. Chief Yerkey was promoted to lieutenant in 2000, captain in 2006. Chief Yerkey took on the role as Battalion Chief in 2008 and onto the Assistant Fire Chief in 2010. He was appointed to Fire Chief on April 4th 2016 and is responsible for the administration and management work in planning, organizing, and directing all activities of the Rock Island Fire Department.
