Biography

Mark Poulos was born in Rock Island and lived in Arsenal Courts. He later moved to Moline and graduated from Moline High School in 1973 and entered the United States Marine Corps.

After being honorably discharged, Mark returned to Rock Island and became a police officer serving 33 years and retiring as a Lieutenant in 2010.  Mark became the Chief of Police in Coal Valley serving five years.

Mark lives in Rock Island in the 6th Ward with his wife in the same house since 1977.  He graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport with a BA in business. He has also served for 30 years on the Rock Island Police Pension Board.

Mark is the co-founder of Big River Rescue and Recovery Dive Team. He teaches scuba at the University of Iowa, public safety diving at various agencies in the Midwest, and manages Sentry Scuba in Moline.
