The Adopt-A-Highway Program is a community involvement program that brings volunteers into partnership with
Keep Rock Island Beautiful and the City of Rock Island to keep our roadsides clean.
Program Participation
An organization wishing to become part of the Adopt-A-Highway Program will need to do the following:
- Fill out an Adopt-A-Highway application. The completed application should be signed and returned to:

- The agreement will then be referred to the City Council who will authorize the City Manager to sign the agreement.
- The Adopt-A-Highway signs will then be installed. The signs will indicate the name of the organization and the length in miles adopted.
- A representative of Keep Rock Island Beautiful will meet with the organization to review the agreement and safety rules.
- Keep Rock Island Beautiful will supply safety vests and bags.
- Each volunteer group is responsible for a section of highway and agrees to remove litter a minimum of four times per year for a minimum of two years.
