DO YOU HAVE A LIBRARY CARD?
As a resident of Rock Island or of the Milan Blackhawk-Area Public Library District, you qualify for a free library card as part of your tax-supported library service. Cards are also available for a fee to certain non-residents. As the “smartest card in your wallet,” your Rock Island Public Library Card allows you to:
- Borrow books in a wide variety of formats from the Rock Island Public Library, or any other library in the Prairie Area Library System (Prairie Cat.).

- Borrow music CDs, audio books, computer DVDS and CD-ROMs, graphic novels, multimedia kits, educational and entertainment movies and magazines for a wide range of ages and needs.
- Reserve books and other materials that aren’t immediately available.
- Access online research resources, such as our Learning Express Library and directories of magazine and newspaper articles.
- Use up to an hour of free Internet time on our public Internet terminals.
As a special benefit to Quad City residents, you may borrow or return books from or to any library in the Prairie Cat system. Cards are available for both adults and children (with parent’s signature). To apply, you’ll need two forms of ID. For more details, click here.
