ROCK ISLAND LIBRARIES

The Rock Island Public Library serves you from three locations: The historic Main Library downtown, the 30/31 Branch Library at 3059 30th Street and the Southwest Branch at 9010 Ridgewood Road. Rock Island’s system of libraries is the oldest in the state, having opened to the public on Nov. 25, 1872. The historic Main Library building was built in 1903, expanded in 1986 and extensively remodeled in 2006.

The library’s business office at 401 19th Street is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To contact the Business Office, please call 309-732-7305.

The Rock Island Library Board of Trustees meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Main Library, 401 19th Street. All meetings are open to the public. To view minutes from previous meetings, click here.

Your free library card is your ticket to an ever-growing world of free knowledge, exploration and enrichment. It’s a great benefit to residents of Rock Island, Milan and other areas within the Milan-Blackhawk Area Public Library District. And in addition to one of the widest selection of free materials, your Rock Island Public Library offers a variety of special programs for adults and families, including story hours, public discussions, independent movies, displays by local artists and other resources to entertain you and enrich your life.
