Health, Dental & Vision
|
|
The Rock Island Municipal Employees Health Benefit Plan is a program designed to meet the demands of ever rising medical costs while providing the most economically beneficial health insurance to our employees. Benefits become effective the first (1st) of the month following thirty (30) days of full-time employment for both the employee and eligible dependents, if applicable. The City pays 77% of the premium while the employee pays the remaining premium through payroll deduction. A choice of 1 health plan is offered, as is a dental plan on a voluntary basis with the employee paying 100% of the dental insurance premium. Vision coverage is included as a standard portion of the health benefit plans.

Educational Reimbursement
|
| Employees shall be eligible for partial reimbursement for the costs of books and tuition for training related to work and/or training subject to conditions. |

Pension
|
| City employees participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). The employee contributes 4.5% of their gross wages and the City contributes a percentage. Police and Fire have a different pension plan and receive a defined benefit |

| Each employee receives 3 days of paid bereavement pay for the employee’s immediate family. For bereavement leave purposes, immediate family shall be defined as the employee’s or his/her spouses’ mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, brother, sister, son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, husband or wife, grandparents or any other relative who lives in the same household as the employee. |

Long Term Life Insurance

| This additional coverage pays you or your beneficiary a benefit for loss of life or other injuries resulting from a covered accident. |

Whole Term Life Insurance
|
| This optional coverage allows you to purchase additional insurance to protect your family into retirement. |

Workers Compensation Benefit
|
Provisions for compensation in the form of wage replacement, rehabilitation and the cost of all necessary hospital, surgical and medical expenses, for all accidental injuries or illnesses arising out of, and in the course of employment. Such compensation shall be provided in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois Worker’s Compensation Act.
