New Park to Come
The Park Department is coordinating with the Martin Luther King Center and Community and Economic Development Department to design a new park located across from the Martin Luther King Center in the Old Chicago neighborhood. For more information on the New Old Chicago Area Plan click here.

PICNIC SHELTER RESERVATIONS

Shelter reservations are available for the larger shelters for $25. All other shelter use is $15. Reservations can be made at the Rock Island Park Board Office, 1320 24th Street, Rock Island, Illinois 61201 or by calling 732-PARK (7275) and making the reservation with a VISA or MASTERCARD. Call 732-7275 for Shelter Permits – Starting April 1st.

WEDDINGS IN THE PARK

Outdoor weddings are very popular. The Parks and Recreation Department offers several sites throughout the park system that are ideal for these very special occasions.

The most popular sites are:

  • Lincoln Park Wedding Plaza (100 plus people)
  • Lincoln Park Gazebo (50-100 people)
  • Sunset Park Overlook (50 people)
  • Longview Park Conservatory (15-20 people)

In addition, the Hauberg Civic Center has two outdoor spaces and the building that can be used for weddings and family events. Please contact the Hauberg Civic Center at 732-ROOM (7666) for bookings. The outdoor areas include:

  • Hauberg Civic Center Tulip Fountain and Front Lawn (75-100 people)
  • Hauberg Civic Center Rhododendron Garden (35 people)

The most popular dates are between June and October, when flowers and landscape beds are in full bloom. To make reservations, contact the Park Office at 732-PARK (7275) beginning April 1.

DO'S AND DON'TS IN YOUR PARKS
  • Dogs without leashes are not allowed on park property. The pet owner is responsible for removal of all waste deposited on park property. Remember this is a play space for you and your family.
  • Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in city parks.
  • Intoxicated persons are not allowed on park property.
  • Hitting of golf balls in our city parks is prohibited. Golf balls are dangerous around children, and lost balls can be picked up and flung by mowers. Please use the golf courses for golf!
  • Motorized vehicles, of any kind are not permitted on park property or bike trails unless authorized by the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Dumping of debris, grass clippings, etc., on park property is against city ordinance.
  • All parks close at 10 p.m.
