Staff from the City of Rock Island has participated with officials from the City of East Moline, the City of Moline, and Rock Island County to develop a Unified Zoning Ordinance. Unified zoning definitions were adopted by these four jurisdictions in November of 1995. The intent is to unify as much of the zoning ordinances as possible, though there will still be differences in procedures and administration between the jurisdictions.
The Rock Island City Council approved the new Zoning Ordinance in November 2002.
