  3. See the Show, Become a Pro - Juggling with Jason

    July 6, 10:00 am - 11:00 am @ Main Library

    A super-sized interactive juggling show with juggler, stilt-walker and balloon twister Jason Kollum. The one-hour show shows off Jason's feats of strength and skill in balancing, juggling and stunts. Attendees then get a chance to learn if juggling can be their superpower, too, with a short workshop on juggling and balancing.

  4. Secret Identity Drama Club

    July 6, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm @ Main Library

    Practice your acting sklls so you can hide your super-secret identity with Secret Identity Drama Club. Create short skits and practice improvisation skills under the direction of acting coach Angela Rathman. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. For 4th grades and up. Sign up required.     A free structured play group to help your baby talk, sing, read, and play his or her way to early literacy. Especially for ages 3 and under, with activities and toys designed to develop your child's early learning superpowers. Offered year round, 2nd Thursday of each month. This month's Play and Grow features Music Therapist Lorna Johnson, of West Music. She'll bring instruments for an interactive music play program.     Every Hero Has a Story at Rock Island Library this summer, and a lot of superheroes have their own movies, too. Join us for free family superhero movies on Fridays from June 5-July 17. No movie on July 3. The library can't list the movies on websites due to movie licensing restrictions, so pick up a copy of the library newsletter or Summer program guide for details.

  19. Rock Island Library mobile blood drive

    July 15, 10:00 am - 1:30 pm @ Main Library

    Rock Island Public Library will host a community blood drive from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on Wednesday, July 15 at the downtown Main Library, 401 19th Street. Donors will give blood in the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center Donor Bus in the library parking lot off 20th Street. The rate of blood donation typically drops by about 20 percent in summer months, according to the MVRBC.   31. Teen Epic Cosplay Night

    A free event for teens ages 12 to 18. Come in for costumed pictures with friends in our superhero photo booth, learn about Cosplay, and how to make your own costumes and accessories. We'll also award summer reading prizes to those in attendance. (You do not have to be present to collect your summer reading prize.) This is the final event in the Rock Island Library's Escape the Ordinary super summer teen programming.
