The Traffic Clerk is primarily responsible for the record keeping of the Car Owner Responsibility Act (C.O.R.A.) paperwork.
If a vehicle is towed for a C.O.R.A. offense, a court date will be set for the C.O.R.A. charge. Before picking up the vehicle, a release form must be picked up for the vehicle at the Rock Island Police Department.
The Traffic Clerk also enters and updates accident reports. Copies of a crash report are available at the Rock Island Police Department for a $5 fee. Reports can be picked up seven days a week from 7:45 am-10:45 pm at the front desk of the Police Department. Payment may be made by cash, check, or a debit/credit card. A copy of the report may also be requested by mail by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope along with the $5 to the Rock Island Police Department.
